This exceptional vintage French snake ring is very similar to those popular in the Georgian and Victorian eras. It features 10 lovely square-cut rubies for the scales and a 0.1 carat diamond for the eye within a 14k yellow gold setting. Beautiful craftsmanship.

Snake rings were very popular in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods as they represented “Eternal love and wisdom”. They have re-emerged as a modern red-carpet trend. Leading into the Victorian era, archaeologists discovered treasure troves of jewelry from Greece, Italy, and Egypt, filled with snake rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. In tandem with the frenzy in Classical Revival jewelry that blossomed from the historic findings, Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake-shaped ring as an engagement present.
