These striking vintage cufflinks feature authentic Wedgwood Jasperware medallions, exquisitely depicting Britannia and Minerva, two powerful female symbols of strength, wisdom, and national pride. Wedgwood’s artisans captured these figures in fine relief against its soft blue Jasperware background, a hallmark of their iconic neoclassical style. Each medallion is framed in a heavy gold-plated setting with a secure toggle fitting in excellent condition. The mounts are stamped “Imitation”, a common vintage hallmark indicating that while the frames are not solid gold, they are gold-plated or rolled gold. This marking does not refer to the Wedgwood inserts themselves, which are authentic and handcrafted from Wedgwood’s renowned stoneware. This practice was typical of mid-20th-century cufflink production, allowing luxury design at a more accessible price point.
