This is a large antique French handpainted porcelain brooch of two daisies on a black background. It is signed on the back, as well as featuring the handwritten French words “Peint à la main”, which means “handpainted”. The black and white colour palette of this brooch lends it a very modern and sophisticated air. Truly one of a kind. Trombone clasp.

Symbolically, daisies represent simplicity, positivity, and happiness. They are often associated with the following: innocence, purity, new beginnings, transformation, humility, true love, and cheerfulness. In France, the game “Effeuiller La Marguerite” is the same as the English “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not”, in which the petals of a daisy represent a longing for true love.
